School Reviews

5   8/24/2009
During the 2008-2009 school year, I received emails from the principal and advisory teacher communicating about parent meetings, TAKS test dates and school close days because of the weather. However, we did not receive emails from other teachers communicating activities in the class rooms. It would be nice if we knew more about study subjects so that I could tutor my child at home. I would suggest something like e-news letter every week. We want more parent involvement to help students improving grades.

Teachers in 19 States Allowed to Physically Punish Students
As of 2014, nineteen states still allow corporal punishment – spanking and paddling the most common choices – in their public schools. However, some argue that not only are these punishments physically harmful, they also are disproportionately administered to students of color. As a result, House democrats have taken up the issue in a new bill that would ban all forms of corporal punishment nationwide.
