School Reviews

2   9/26/2007
My stepchildren spent one year at Hollydale, and it was the most disappointing year of their education. Their mother actually purposefully moved out of the district to put them in another school. Although their "programs" were all up-to-date, the worst part of this school is that they do NOT want parents involved. The school staff and teachers are very closed down toward parents; they were VERY unhelpful in dealing with our children who come from two households. I find it hard to believe that our kids were the only ones with divorced parents. We approached the teacher repeatedly, but to no avail.

Teachers in 19 States Allowed to Physically Punish Students
As of 2014, nineteen states still allow corporal punishment – spanking and paddling the most common choices – in their public schools. However, some argue that not only are these punishments physically harmful, they also are disproportionately administered to students of color. As a result, House democrats have taken up the issue in a new bill that would ban all forms of corporal punishment nationwide.
