The teaching garden is great. "The Roxbury Village Teaching Garden began as a community effort with the goal to incorporate farm to school into the curriculum. Now, there are 15 raised beds, herb beds, fruit trees and herb beds that all of the student take care. Integrated into the curriculum, the students start seeds, transplant, care for the beds, harvest and cook the fruits of their labor."

While there are two quality teachers who work in this school and a few quality teachers who are part-time music, PE, and art teachers, after 2nd grade the quality of the education provided to our students takes a drastic turn towards a poor education. The Principal often leaves after one or two years. The disconnect between the school and the community is often blamed on the poorly educated parents, which is very far from the truth. Roxbury is stereotyped as a poor community. Do not move to Roxbury for a quality education.

Teachers in 19 States Allowed to Physically Punish Students
As of 2014, nineteen states still allow corporal punishment – spanking and paddling the most common choices – in their public schools. However, some argue that not only are these punishments physically harmful, they also are disproportionately administered to students of color. As a result, House democrats have taken up the issue in a new bill that would ban all forms of corporal punishment nationwide.
